How awesome to live so close to a temple being built! We took the 3 hour drive up to Kansas City to attend and make a little family day trip out of it.
We went the 3rd day it had opened, and it was crazy busy! One of the sister missionaries I talked to said that they were expecting 500 people an HOUR! So incredible to see that, and it seems like its been well received by the non-LDS public.

Since we were there it seemed a shame to not go to the church history sites close by. Liberty Jail was only 10 minutes away, and while it was fun, sitting through the presentation was hard for the kids since they had just sat through a tour of the temple.
After getting our wiggles out at a park and then grabbing a bite to eat at Culver's (nostalgic for Cory from his mission) we drove 20 minutes south to Independence and thankfully that visitors center was more hands on. The kids loved it, and the sweet missionary sisters were SO nice!
We're excited to be able to go to the Brigham City Temple open house later this summer too!
