S.O.S.

With the weather becoming intolerably cold, and myself becoming extremly large and pregnant (and unmotivated, I might add. 30+ extra pounds will do that to ya), I feel that around our house we are doing entirely too much of this:

And already the monotony of play-doh, books, coloring and puzzles is wearing.

So I ask you: what do you do to keep yourself sane and to entertain a toddler in what feels like the dead of winter?

{Funny side note: I thought about titling this post "save our brains" but then realized that the abbreviations wouldn't be quite appropriate!}

There is always getting a box of weird items like duct tape, rope, surgical tubing...ect. and let him invent with it! Kyzen was happy for hours when we let him "invent" things.

Finger paint!! Although it's messy it entertains Kyla for hours!
There's also this website that gives awesome ideas/crafts for little ones. You can also search for activities by age, season, holiday, etc. It has saved us during the long dreaded winters! http://www.savvysource.com/activities/

There's also this site: http://www.raylit.com/
for educational games and learning.

Or you can fill a sink with water and let him play with some toys in it or put flour on the counter and let him roll cars in it...both messy so you definitely have to be in the mood to clean up after wards but kids love it!

OR...sorry last idea I promise! Go to the public library in town. Kyla loves going there to look at books and check some out. They have these black boxes there you can check out for a week that have certain themes to it like "Dogs" or "Dentists", etc. and it's a whole pack with books, games, and things to learn about whatever theme you choose. It's very fun!

Anyway, hope those give you some ideas!

I was the same way! (unmotivated etc...) I could see McKyla turning into such a little couch potato. And it's a good thing that some of the shows are educational, because it's gotten worse now that I've had the baby! Today we made a leaf collage though, that was fun and she loved playing with glue.....sorry that doesn't help much but I just wanted to say I have been/am in the same boat! So I'll be checking back to get others' tips for sure!

I was going to suggest the same thing Amiee did. The black boxes at the library. They have lots of fun activities in them. And they have lots of different ones, so he doesn't get bored.

window crayons have worked well for us.

i find that social interaction is reeeeeeallly helpful. have friends over, its fun for you AND your little one, for lils it makes her toys seem more fun all of a sudden when there is someone to play with.

playing in the sink.

haha. that is so funny! isn't it true!! when it's nasty out we like to hibernate inside as well! my thought is, if it's cold and nasty and everyone is getting sick, might as well stay inside!! i have no advide though. lol life with evelyne consists of crawling, following mom around and playing with baby toys. :) i dont know what you're suppose to do with an almost 2 year old!! TWO YEARS OLD!! Weird!!
