Getaway!

What a weekend! So I was totally surprised when Cory showed up on Friday after his morning Dr. appointment and told me to go pack an overnight bag! He didn't give me much information other than we were driving for awhile and that we would be back later the next day. So we left the kids with gma and gpa (who I thought were there to hang out for a few days before gpa left from Denver...only half true), grabbed some lunch and then hit the road.

We drove..and drove...and I napped....and we drove some more. I was beginning to think he was taking me all the way back to Utah! When we finally got there (3 hours away) he tried to trick me by saying he "had to pull off to use the restroom" but when I saw the "Glennwood Hot Springs" sign I knew it was no coincidence. After checking in to our hotel and hopped on our bikes and rode along the river for a few miles. A nice leisurely ride enjoying the gorgeous mountains and warm air. And sans children. Add that to the end of every sentence from here on out, and you'll understand how we were feeling!!

Then it was off to dinner, and this is the only picture I have. We ate at a yummy Italian restaurant and got cheesecake to go. Yum!

I think my favorite part was sleeping in until 9am! Holy cow, that hasn't happened in a good 4-5 years. I felt a tad bit lazy though, so we went on a run in the hills. Which turned into a walk. Which turned into a hike. And back to a run again on the way down. By the time we were done and cleaned up it was 11 and we were famished! We grabbed a late breakfast and had some peanut butter pie to top it off :)

The hot springs are this city's main attraction and they were huge! Lots of people, but I didn't for one second feel crowded. Though we weren't there for too long, we both came back a little pink even though you couldn't tell by looking at a certain one of us today!

Time flew by and we needed to head home, but not before grabbing some ice cream for lunch! This guy knows me so well, I tell you what!

We loved every second of our trip, and I loved even more that Cory did it all as a surprise (though I might have tried to spoil it before hand...on more than one occasion). What a great way to celebrate 5 years together!
