Always an adventure!

Oh goodness, what a day! This morning Audrey and Isaac were jumping into a pile of pillows on my bed. Fairly fun and harmless, no? Well until someone falls off and smacks their head (maybe?) on the wall (or the night stand?)

Audrey was crying after she fell, so I rushed in to get her. I picked her up and she went limp in my arms, and her eyes started rolling back in her head. Luckily Cory was still home, so he called 911 while I was trying to keep her awake. If I stopped jostling her or yelling her name, she went lifeless. After a couple minutes her lips went white and face pale. I was frantic. Her breathing stayed fairly normal and the fact that she was breathing gave me comfort. But I have to say that it is the scariest moment I have had to feel my child lifeless limp in my arms.

When the paramedics arrived (um, after an eternity. You know, 4 minutes) she was upright again, and making more crying noises. The color was returning to her lips, but she still seemed a little lethargic. One of the paramedics touched her arm and that did it for her. She screamed! Halleluja, I knew she'd be ok. They checked her over while Isaac went to check out the fire truck and the ambulance. She was acting more normal, and even started saying "bye bye" to the (count 'em, 7) paramedics.

I know this is horrible, but I couldn't really justify a $150 emergency room bill if she was acting fine, so we scheduled an appointment with the pediatrician a couple hours later. When I took her in, the Dr. said that it is a completely normal bodily reaction to pain, kind of like breath holding spells. Well normal or not, they are no fun!

Luckily our little monkey is alright and has bounced right back. I just hope this next year isn't as eventful as this past one has been!

Heather-
that sounds absolutely terrifying! thank goodness she is ok. And you have had a lot of emergencies lately. Maybe you should make your kids wear a helmet for the rest of there childhood lives...maybe even teenage years too!

My goodness, how scary! Kaden jumps on our bed (and couch, and chair...pretty much everything) all the time and now I'm worried something might happen!

Oh my heavens that just may be a mother's worst nightmare! Thank goodness she was okay-what a blessing that it wasn't worse. You sure have some daring and adventurous kids! (and I'm with Traci-now I'm even more paranoid about something happening while the girls playing around)

That's the worst feeling!! Kaysen has had febrile seizures three times and it's scary. They'll stop breathing, turn pale and go limp and not respond to anything. NOt my idea of fun. I'm glad that she is okay.

Goodness! You need to put those two little kiddos in a bubble. I'm so scared for Drake's first incident and I know it will happen someday- there is just no avoiding it. I'm so glad she is ok, I was scared reading your post and was relieved that it ended well!

Scary! I'm glad all was okay. Good thing children are built tough. :) Breck had an incident where she hit her head when she was younger, she was okay too, but it is just scary to go through.

I know exactly how you feel. Seth fell down the stairs at my in laws house and the same thing happened. He turned pail and laid in my arms and his eyes were rolling back. I was terrified too. I am so glad that she is ok. I know how scary that is. You guys did a good job staying calm.
